Description
Monnina hassleri (also called Hassler's Monnina, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree native to South America. It grows up to 10 m tall and has leaves that are oblong-ovate, with a pointed tip, and are up to 8 cm long. It is found in dry forests, scrublands, and rocky areas in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

Monnina hassleri is used in traditional Chinese medicine for treating fever, malaria, and dysentery. It is also used as an ornamental plant in gardens.

The flower of Monnina hassleri is small and white, with four petals. The seed is a small, black, round seed. The seedlings are small and green.
Cultivation and Propagation
Monnina hassleri is propagated by division or by seed. Division should be done in the spring, when the plant is actively growing. Seeds should be sown in the spring in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer.
