Capitanopsis albida (also called Capitanopsis albida, among many other common names) is a species of shrub native to the Americas. It is an evergreen shrub with a spreading habit and can reach heights of up to 2 m. It is found in dry and rocky habitats, from sea level to high elevations in the mountains.
Uses & Benefits
Capitanopsis albida is used as an ornamental plant and for its timber. It is also used in traditional medicine for treating skin diseases, fever, and pain.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Capitanopsis albida has small white flowers with yellow centers. The seeds are small and black. The seedlings are thin with long, narrow leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Capitanopsis albida is a tropical plant that can be propagated from stem cuttings. Cut a stem section about 4-6 inches long and remove the lower leaves. Dip the cut end in a rooting hormone and place it in a pot filled with moistened potting soil. Cover the pot with a plastic bag and place it in a warm, bright location. The cutting should root in about 4-6 weeks. Once the roots have formed, the plastic bag can be removed and the new plant can be transplanted into a larger pot.
