Description
Carex furusei (also called Furuse's Sedge, among many other common names) is a perennial sedge of the family Cyperaceae. It is native to East Asia, where it is widely distributed in China, Japan, and Korea. It is found in wetland habitats, such as marshes, swamps, and wet meadows.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Carex furusei has small, yellow-green flowers that are borne on a cylindrical spike. The seeds are small, dark brown and glossy, and the seedlings are slender and upright.
Cultivation and Propagation
Carex furusei is a perennial sedge native to Japan. It prefers moist, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Propagation is by division or seed. Division should be done in early spring or fall.
