Description
Carex esenbeckii (also called Esenbeck's Sedge, among many other common names) is a perennial grass-like plant native to Europe, Asia, and North America. It grows in moist, shady habitats, such as woodlands, marshes, and along streams and lakes. It has narrow, linear leaves and small, yellow-brown flowers.
Cultivation and Propagation
Carex esenbeckii can be propagated by seed, division, or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a moist, well-drained soil in a sunny location. Division should be done in the early spring or fall. Cuttings should be taken in the spring or summer and planted in moist soil.

Carex esenbeckii can be found in wet meadows, marshes, and along streambanks in the eastern United States and Canada.
