Cultivation and Propagation

Sanicula sandwicensis can be propagated by seed, division, or cuttings. The seeds should be sown in spring or autumn in a cold frame and the seedlings should be potted up into individual pots when they are large enough to handle. Division can be done in early spring or autumn. Larger clumps can be divided using two forks to ease them apart. Cuttings of side shoots can be taken in spring or summer and rooted in a cold frame. The plants can be planted out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts.
