Guatteria modesta (also called Gualteria modesta, among many other common names) is a small evergreen tree or shrub native to Central America and the Caribbean. It has a smooth, gray bark and light green, glossy leaves. It grows in tropical and subtropical forests, as well as in disturbed habitats such as roadsides.
